A beetle rises from a pale, weathered ground, its long antennae curling outward like smoke. Its body is not shell but ornament: layers of carved acanthus scrolls in slate blue and silver, as if the insect were built rather than born, and outlined in bands of black, white, and green.
Around it float medallions in blue and coral, patterned like old tiles and printing blocks. The title casts the beetle as a builder working in what fire leaves behind, the kind of small, patient creature that turns endings into new ground.
